Read French with Bilingual Books. They are not only useful for teenagers, they are also a very good way for adults to improve their French.
In September 2007, Jeannette Ward wrote KARNI MATA , a story set in London about a group of friends looking for the lost statuette of the Indian goddess Karni Mata. It was her first bilingual novel (French – English) for teenagers, and was published by the French publishing house EDITIONS TALENTS HAUTS in June 2008, in their DUAL BOOKS Collection.
Since KARNI MATA, Jeannette has had four further bilingual books for teenagers published by EDITIONS TALENTS HAUTS: IMAGINE ALICE in February 2009, a story about a young French girl called Alice who visits Oxford and has some very curious adventures and SECRET PASSAGE in June 2009 a story about a group of youngsters who visit a medieval castle in the South-West of France and discover a mysterious tunnel to another world. The two latest are THE LAKE MONSTER published in October 2009 and CYBER INTELLIGENCE in June 2010.
Lisbeth, a young Anglo-French girl from Oxford, meets Mina, an

talking cat. The cousins are invited to a tea party by W. Tibbar, a curious individual who is always in a hurry and who sets the collection
of very eccentric guests a difficult riddle to solve. (Freely inspired by Lewis Carroll)Every summer, Amy and Scotty spend their holidays with their parents in the South of France. But this year is different: they are moving into the old fortified castle of the village. With their French friends, Camille
and Julien, they discover a secret passage to the 15th century! The DUAL BOOKS collection is an original idea, as the chapters alternate between French and English, the first chapter is in French, the second is in English and so on throughout the book. Readers therefore need to read in both French and English to understand what is happening in the novel. The novel are written with a modern audience in mind and at the end of the book, there is a “BONUS” with a bilingual vocabulary, a quiz and cultural information relating to and developing the subject of the novel.
Although the language used assumes at least 2 years of practice, these small novels are relatively easy to understand, as there is a lot of dialogue and each chapter is quite short.
SO THE READER WILL BE ABLE TO ENJOY READING IN BOTH FRENCH AND ENGLISH W
